Backup handles two jobs: keeping regular backups of your own site, and migrating a full WordPress site from one server to another without touching FTP.

Backup & restore

• Full coverage — the entire database, table by table, plus all of wp-content (themes, plugins, uploads).
• Scheduled or on-demand — run backups on a schedule or trigger one manually, with configurable retention.
• Built for large sites — the database dump is written in batches straight to disk, never held fully in memory. Files are added in adaptive chunks that automatically scale down if the host's disk I/O struggles, and chunks are strung together within a burst budget so small and medium sites often finish in one pass.
• No WP-Cron dependency for starting a backup — "Back up now" fires a direct, non-blocking request with a one-time token, so it isn't at the mercy of a slow or disabled cron.
• Streamed downloads — backup archives download 1 MB at a time, with a disk-space check before any archive is built.

Migration, without FTP

Dedicated Export and Import tabs let you move a full site — database and wp-content — from a source site to a destination site directly, without a file transfer client in the middle. These tabs are meant for one-off use during a migration; the Backup/Restore tab is what you'll use day to day.

No license, no exceptions

Backup is the one NimblePlugins product with no Free/Pro split at all — there is no license check anywhere in the code. It's free for as long as you use it.
